Housed within the old, timber-framed Moot Hall, one of Aldeburgh’s most iconic and historically important buildings, the Aldeburgh Museum offers guests a chance to learn more about the fascinating history of this part of the Suffolk Coast.

From the early Roman and Anglo Saxon settlers, to the shipbuilding and fishing trade. Discover the story of the Aldeburgh witches, and the significance of Slaughden and the Martello Tower.

The Moot Hall itself dates back to first half of the 16th Century. It originally contained six small shops on the ground floor and a spacious meeting chamber on the first floor. The Town Council still meets there today.
