$article->leadphoto->description

Wherever you’re staying in Suffolk, there’s an abundance of local and independent produce just waiting to be discovered. We’ve compiled a list of our favourites to help you get the most of our county’s fantastic food, and help you on your way to stocking the quintessential Suffolk frigidaire.

Lawson’s Deli

If you’re staying in Aldeburgh and are looking for first-class food to stock the fridge, make Lawson’s your first port of call! This award-winning delicatessen, previous winner of the national much-coveted “Deli of the Year” accolade, sells organic bread, home glazed Suffolk ham, fine cheeses, rare breed pork pies, olives, chutneys, coffee beans and more. The delicatessen also provides a range of vegetarian options, including scrummy veggie scotch eggs and quiches.

Daily, the kitchen serves up soups, salads, terrines, tarts, chocolate brownies and a range of high quality frozen meals, perfect if you’re looking for something quick and easy to pop in the oven after a day of exploring the Aldeburgh coastline. If you so fancy, Lawson’s also offer Holiday Cottage Welcome Hampers, helping to make the start of your holiday stress free and enjoyable!

Open 9am - 5pm Monday - Saturday, 10am - 2pm on Sunday.

The Aldeburgh Market

The 2011 Good Food Guide described this quirky hotspot as a “fishmonger, deli, greengrocers, and livewire daytime cafe under one roof… a fiercely local foodie enterprise with an eclectic edge”. This glowing view of The Market is certainly well founded; popular with both locals and tourists alike, a recommendation in the Michelin Guide in 2016 cemented its status as a Suffolk seaside treasure.

Offering both seasonal produce, fresh vegetables, specialised deli products and local fish, as well as more exotic products in their Asian food section, a visit to The Market is a must if you’re staying in Aldeburgh. There is also a cafe on the same site, with dishes created only from produce sold in the store.

Munchies

Offering freshly made local food, this delightful cafe offers both eat-in options and produce from the takeaway deli counter, including salamis and parma hams, sausage rolls, cakes and pastries, homemade jams, local cheeses, local ice cream and much more. Munchies also offers a massive range of fantastic freezer-to-oven ready meals, from starters through to puddings, perfect if you want a fuss-free evening in at your holiday cottage.

Open 8am - 4:30 pm daily.

Adnams Cellar and Kitchen

If you’re visiting Aldeburgh, or even Suffolk more generally, at least one Adnams ale in the pantry is a requirement! The beer has a long and rich heritage, brewed on the same site as the present brewery for at least 670 years, with shops and pubs dotted all along the Suffolk coast. One of its newest additions is the Aldeburgh shop, handily located on the High Street for all the essential tipples.
